The date of the Annual Meeting was printed incorrectly in the latest newsletter. The correct date is March 8th at the New Theatre starting at 6 p.m.

November 10 -

CHANGE - CHANGE - CHANGE - CHANCE - CHANCE!

There has been an important change to the next show briefing on November 23rd. Rather than meeting at the New Theatre, we have been invited to attend a special warehouse briefing at the New Theatre warehouse. The time will be the same: social at 6 p.m. and presentation at 6:30 p.m.

We will get to meet the entire cast and will be able to see the actual set being finished for "RUN FOR YOUR WIFE". This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to see where a play begins to take shape!

Directions to the warehouse:

From Johnson County, take I-35 North towards Downtown KC.

Take the Southwest Boulevard exit from I-35 (like you’re going to Strasser Hardware)

Stay on SW Boulevard in towards downtown.

Just past Boulevard Brewery, go under the train trestle and take the next LEFT.

This is West 25th street.

the warehouse is just about ½ block from SW Boulevard

August 8 -

We will not have a Show Briefing for CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES 2.

However, we will have a Final Dress Rehearsal, which will begin at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 2. No seating after 1:45 PM.

July 11 -

The new directories for 2009 have been mailed to members. Some members have been concerned that the show briefing and dress rehearsal dates are not shown in the directory. Nothing has changed. We cannot post whether there will be one of these events until we get permission from the New Theatre Restaurant. Since this permission comes much later than the printing of the directory, we were not able to print the exact date in the directory. You will receive the exact dates via email or the telephone committee, and via newsletters.

Please note that we are usually not invited for musicals.

May 12 -

There will NOT be a show briefing nor dress rehearsal for "Sound of Music", which starts on June 25. It is typical that there is no dress rehearsal for musicals.

John and Joyce Cessna represented The New Theatre Guild at the University of Kansas' "Deans Club Banquet" on Friday, April 17th. This "2009 Alumi Distinguished Achievement Award" banquet honored four guaduates of KU. The four thus honored were:

Sheila Bair - Chair of the FDIC.

Jacqueline Z. Davis - Executive Director of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center.

Robert Hill - James B. Duke Professor of Biochemistry at Duke University.

Deanell Reece Tacha - U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.

April 16 -

UMKC's "Showcase" will be on Monday, May 4th, at 6:00 p.m. at Grant Hall. This is when UMKC awards The New Theatre Guild's five scholarships to their theatre students. If you wish to attend, there is no fee, but you should let Esther Richart know. She will be able to give you directions. Her phone number is: 816-942-6349.

April 7 -

Jeanne and Jim McDowell are organizing a caravan trip to see "Electra" at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.

The Sunday matinee is on April 26th. The play starts at 2:00.

The theatre chair,Richard "Buzz" Herman, is allowing The New Theatre Guild members to attend for free! You do need to call Jeanne McDowell prior to April 15th, so she can tell UCM how many members to expect. Jeanne McDowell's phone number is 816-942-0584.

Everyone going will meet at 12:30 in the parking lot just east of EBT Restaurant.

EBT is located in the UMB building at State Line Road and Carondolet Drive. The caravan will leave no later than 12:45.

March 22 -

The first person to read this will receive two free tickets to The Lyric Theatre's performance of "La Traviata" at 2 p.m. today. Each seat is valued at $54. Please call 913-961-7010.

There will be no show briefing.

Dress Rehearsal will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15. No seating after 1:45 p.m.
